I am a user of Conair hot lather machine from long time going back 10 years or so. You can't beat a hot, style barber shop Shave every morning and that is really the only practical way to do it yourself at home. These units have always worked very well for me, although they all eventually lost their ability to adequately heat the foam. that seemed to be inevitable, but, fortunately, are cheap and effective enough to justify having to regain every couple of years or so. older models that are accustomed to using are long discontinued now, so I went ahead and bought two of these newer models. so far, both are working great. very nice and elegant design, installation was easy enough and heats up quickly. the only thing I don't like about them is that, even at max setting, do not get hot enough as did the older models. still pretty hot, but it would have been nice if it had a little more room for manoeuvre. only time will tell whether these will be strong, but, for now, are satisfied with their. Update: it is not possible to use these machines with Gillette Fusion HydraGel. It will connect successfully, but the gel won't stop pouring in and there is nothing you can do to stop it! The instructions state very clearly that these can be used with foam and gel, but this is an exception defined and one that I had to learn the hard way wasting almost the entire contents of one can. just thought I would warn anyone using that particular brand to do not attempt to use with this machine or you will regret it.

great product. the ready light is reflective, then your light will fool shaving. tilt the machine toward you and you can tell if it is intermittent (heating) or fixed (ready).

A couple of days ago. I'm looking for information on the Conair HGL1 Combination Hot Gel/Lather Machine, Black, so i would like to bring a story to tell.
I gave this to my boyfriend as a birthday gift and he loves it! He likes to have the heated gel before it touches his face. When I first tried out put the hottest setting, and it was a little too hot for comfort for him, so he registered just down. I think there is plenty of room to adjust the temperature to your liking. his only complaint is that the gel that first installment is pretty hot, but if you need another big dollop for, is not always as hot as the first. But if you give about 15s (which is about how long it takes for him to apply the initial topknot on his face) for cooling gel to keep warm near the heating element is not a problem! :) I am very satisfied with this product and so is he!
